The Resource and Programme Management (RPM) group oversees the planning, resourcing and execution of the IT Department’s workplan and multi‑year programme of work. RPM ensures effective budget management, coherent programme planning and transparent allocation of resources, supporting the department in maximising its impact.
The group is responsible for talent, vendor and financial management, providing an integrated view of personnel and budget resources, and hosts the Programme Office to coordinate workplan and multi‑year technical roadmap planning, monitoring and reporting in line with departmental strategy and priorities.
RPM also provides administrative and secretarial support to the IT Department, acting as a trusted interface with CERN’s central administrative processes.
Budget Management (IT-RPM-BM)

The section puts together a holistic view of IT department budgets (Personnel/Material and Operation/Projects) to support strategic decision making and plan/arbitrate the IT budget.
Administrative Support (IT-RPM-AS)

The Section is responsible for providing administrative secretarial support to the IT Department. The services provided include general office duties in accordance with the Organization's administrative procedures with special emphasis on information, communication, and organizational services.
The Section’s role involves answering day-to-day requests for information on a confidential basis and advising the department’s personnel on rules and procedures. The Section helps IT personnel to understand the CERN Staff Rules and Regulations, administrative and operational circulars and the Admin e-guide and directs them to the right service or contact person if required.
Programme Office (IT-RPM-PO)

The Programme Office (PO) coordinates the consolidation, planning and monitoring of the IT annual workplan and the multi‑year technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with departmental strategy, priorities, available resources and budget constraints. As part of this scope, the PO hosts the Project Management Office (PMO), which supports projects through common project management practices, guidance and reporting, contributing to the coherent delivery of the workplan and roadmap. It supports the management of dependencies, risks and delivery milestones across programmes and initiatives, and provides structured reporting to senior management to enable informed decision‑making.
