Department Infrastructure

The Department Infrastructure group establishes the framework for the department to implement its strategy and coordinates department-level functions to implement that framework. The functions include the implementation of computer security policies, IT architecture, risk, compliance, service and change management, business continuity, communication, education and outreach. The group is also responsible for coordinating the department's participation to EU-funded initiatives (e.g. EOSC and EuroHPC), projects with industry in the scope of Openlab and with other organisations.  

Communication Outreach and Education (IT-DI-COE)

Section Leader: Alberto Pace

The COE section contributes to the definition of the strategy in the areas of communications, outreach and education and it is responsible for their implementation. The main goals are to communicate our activities across a broad range of audiences. This includes initiatives like the CERN School of Computing and the CERN openlab Summer Student programme. 

Computing Security Operations (IT-DI-CSO)

Section Leader: Stefan Lüders

The CSO section is responsible for the definition and implementation of computer security policies, ensuring best practice is followed across the department, and for handling computer security incidents across the Organization. 

Open Quantum Institute (IT-DI-OQI)

Section Leader: Tim Smith

The OQI section operates the Open Quantum Institute to enable quantum computing to have the widest possible societal impact by promoting and facilitating global and inclusive access to quantum computing and the development of applications for the benefit of humanity.
